The excimer laser unit is one of the specialized departments in Khatam Eye Hospital where LASIK has been done.

Surgery is performed by excimer laser machines to correct refractive errors such as myopia, long-sightedness, astigmatism.

What kind of people are appropriate to do LASIK (PRK)?

  • Age over 18 years

  • Your eye number should be less than 10

  • No change in Refractive error during the past year

  • Patients should not have eye problems such as cataracts, glaucoma, keratoconus and general diseases like rheumatism, diabetes, etc. (tell your doctor If you are pregnant or nursing.)

Preoperative measures:

PRK surgery is for patients who are admitted to hospital. After the initial eye examination by a doctor of Optometry, the exact refractive error (eyes examination) are determined and topographical tests, purity meter, and scan is performed to assess the patient's cornea (patients must not use contact lens 1 to 2 weeks before this examination).

Outpatients Surgery requires local anesthesia and is performed with anesthetic drops and does not require hospitalization.
During operation, the patient should be staring to flashing red light of the device as described.

Comments before and after surgery:

Actions and considerations that should be considered by patients before and after surgery are presented in a book and are also fully presented.
These measures include things like: not using cosmetics around the eyes, eyelid washing, resting the night before the operation and using accurate and timely administration of the drops, avoiding rubbing and itching eyes, and wearing sunglasses after surgery.
After surgery, PRK patients may be faced with some complications that fortunately most of them are minor and temporary and gradually goes away. Information in this regard will be given to patients by physicians.
